This notice explains how [Your business name] (“we”, “us”) collects and uses personal information when you use the Furnish My Room website and app. We are the data controller for this information.

What we collect

  • Room details – measurements, windows, radiators and your style choices.
  • Room photos – if you upload one, it is used to estimate your room’s size and to create a preview of your design in your room. Photos are sent to our AI image provider to create that preview.
  • Contact details – your name, email address and postcode when you place an order or ask us to contact you.
  • Partner applications – business and contact details that makers and retailers send us through our partner form.
  • Usage information – basic technical data such as browser type, IP address and pages visited.

How we use it

  • To create furniture designs that fit your room (our legitimate interests in providing the service you asked for).
  • To process your order and arrange delivery (to perform a contract with you).
  • To share your details with the retailers in your basket, only when you ask us to, so they can fulfil your order (your consent).
  • To reply to your messages, review partner applications and improve our service.

We do not sell your personal information.

Who we share it with

Retail partners (as above), and service providers who run our website and app on our behalf, such as our hosting, workflow, payment and AI image providers. They may only use your information to provide their service to us.

How long we keep it

We keep order information for as long as needed for the order and for our legal and accounting obligations (usually six years). Room photos are not stored after your preview is created. [Confirm these periods.]

Cookies and similar technologies

  • Essential storage – the app may save your room and design progress in your browser so you don’t lose it.
  • Affiliate tracking cookies – when you click through to a retailer, our affiliate network partners (for example Awin) may set a cookie so the retailer knows you came from us. [Add a cookie consent banner before going live with affiliate links.]

Your rights

Under UK data protection law you can ask to access, correct or delete your information, object to or restrict how we use it, and withdraw consent at any time. Email [email protected].

If you’re unhappy with how we handle your information, you can complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk.

This is a starting template, not legal advice – have it checked before launch.
